![]() ![]() I guess it depends on one’s past reading experience. I remember a few reviews complaining about predictability, which surprised me. Of course, when I do that, it makes me want to respond to some of the criticisms other readers had. I did look at some Goodreads reviews before writing my own. I loved how Christine and Eisengrimm quickly developed a companionable rapport. In The Autumn Castle, it was Christine as well as May’s faithful wolf advisor, Eisengrimm. Kim Wilkins apparently has a knack for creating characters that burrow into my affection. It is not a retelling of any particular Grimm fairy tale, but characters’ backstories contain familiar elements: a bargain too eagerly made and soon regretted, quests to undo curses, talking magical animals. Similar to how Veil of Gold pulled from Russian folktales, The Autumn Castle delves into German folklore, with overtones of Grimm fairy tales. ![]() After enjoying Kim Wilkins’ novel Veil of Gold last year, I decided to seek out her backlist. ![]()

![]() It happens to often that it is jarring to a reader trying to stay in the story. Did Apple pay for product placement? Just say phone like every person in the world does. Also why does the Author incessantly use the term Iphone. This book has very little to do with them. Nightstalkers had time travel, aliens and other nonsense storylines but at least had Meg interaction as this is a series about Megs, right? If you love stories about Megs and sharks, then this is honestly not for you. I am still unsure which I disliked more, this book or Nightstalkers. Not a single memorable encounter occurs aside from possibly the last line of the book.I am a huge fan of the first 4 books, origins was fine but it's a short story, after those the series has gone off a cliff. This book is also solely written with the purpose of setting up another book which feels cheap and leaves a flat feeling when done. Way too many fragmented storylines going on, jumping back and forth minute to minute. ![]() ![]() Longtime fan, but this wasn't a great book ![]() ![]() Unfortunately, every one of them dumped her once he discovered she was an otaku. When a chance meeting at her new job with childhood friend, fellow otaku, and now coworker Hirotaka Nifuji almost gets her secret outed at work, she comes up with a plan to make sure he never speaks up. GAMES OVER ROMANCE Narumi Momose has had it rough: Every boyfriend she’s had dumped her once they found out she was an otaku, so she’s gone to great lengths to hide it. ![]() But how about romance between two otaku types? Wotakoi explores that kind of relationship, and you can read on for the review of Volume 1!
